What is a Trustee?

A person(s) and/or bank or trust company, who has the legal authority to hold assets for the benefit of another person (the beneficiary); generally, the trustee’s duties are to manage the investments of the trust, to protect and preserve the assets of the trust, and to apply the assets for the benefit of the beneficiary(ies) in accordance with the directions contained in the trust document.
